On March 29, 2016, a story broke that the annual Niagara Falls Memorial parade was canceled due to lack of city funding.
Over the next couple of days, there was much outrage voiced on social media.
From March 30 to April 2, a band of community volunteers, led by NF Councilmen Kenny Tompkins and Ezra Scott Jr., began to organize this year’s parade.
Judge Angelo Morinello quickly stepped forward to become the parade’s prime sponsor. Other groups and firms, like the Niagara Falls Kiwanis Club and the Masons Niagara Falls Lodge #132 followed the lead.
The event was rechristened as the Community Memorial Day Parade.
Today, we are preparing for a second year! We look forward to making the 2017 parade even bigger! Please join us!
